About us

From the age of six, Robert Mumford always dreamed of having a ‘shop’ of his own, in keeping with a rich history of family tradition and ethics.

This dream finally became a reality in 2023 with the reopening of Mumford Stores, marking a return after an absence of 70 years. The original Mumford Stores was owned and operated by Robert’s great-great-aunt, Dora Fielding (née Mumford), and was located in the village of Great Staughton. Another of Robert’s great-great-aunts, Hilda Southgate (née Mumford), also ran a shop in the village of Weedon, Northamptonshire.

Robert has grand plans to take the current business forward to become one of the UK’s leading suppliers of bird seed and chicken feed, with the support of parents William and Emma. You can catch Robert and his outstanding products at local fairs, in local stockists and online. And please follow Mumford Stores on Facebook for the latest news and offers!
